Lorna R. Loss
Waupaca, WI Age 95 – died on Monday, January 7, 2008 at Bethany Pines in Waupaca, WI. She was born on October 22, 1912 in the Township of Amherst, Portage County, WI, a daughter of Henry and Caroline (Bestul) Quinn. She married George J. Loss on June 17, 1950 in Nelsonville, WI. He preceded her in death on June 6, 2003. Lorna is survived by a son: Dean (Kathy) Loss of Evans, GA, two daughters: Gail (Tom) Stout of Stevens Point, WI, and Kay Dickison of Inver Grove Heights, MN, seven grandchildren: Matt Loss, April (Alan) Rogers, Caroline Loss, Shari Stout, Ryan Stout, Kyle Dickison, and Ben Dickison. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Henry and Caroline Loss, three brothers: Clay, Reuben, and Harry Quinn, and four sisters: Stella Stoltenberg, Ella Johnson, Gleora Salter, and Bernice Quinn. Lorna had been a teacher for 20 years and had taught in rural schools in both Portage and Waupaca Counties. She had also taught school in the Village of Amherst. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in New London and had been a Sunday school teacher for many years. She had also been a member of the Rebecca Circle. Prior to moving to the New London area, she had been an active member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Amherst. She had also been a caregiver for three very fortunate children, her husband, her mother, her mother-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church in New London, WI on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend William Sutlief, officiating. Interment will be in the Ostrander Cemetery, Township of Mukwa, Waupaca County, WI. Friends may call at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, WI on Tuesday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, and at the church in New London on Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to the Trinity Lutheran Church of New London, or to Bethany Home of Waupaca in memory of Lorna R. Loss. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
