Lorraine M. Fischer
Stevens Point, WI Age 90 – died on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at the Portage County Nursing Home in Stevens Point, WI. She was born on June 10, 1921 in Chicago, the daughter of Phillip and Magdelina (Schneider) Schultz. She married John R. Fischer on August 31, 1952 in Bellwood, IL. He preceded her in death on August 11, 2003. Lorraine is survived by her daughter, Judy (Michael) Lubenow of Amherst, grandson, Scott (Heidi) Lubenow of Fitchburg, granddaughter, Kristina Lubenow of Milwaukee, and great grandsons, Maxwell and Gavin Lubenow. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, her parents, a brother, George Schultz, and six sisters, Elizabeth Palmer, Lena Nelson, Katherine (Kitty) Mueller, Lillian Melody, Elsie Johnson, and Theresa Jonas. Lorraine had working in banking and business for about 25 years, retiring in 1987. She enjoyed Polka music and participating in activities at the nursing home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Peace Lutheran Church in Amherst, WI. Visitation will be held on Tuesday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the church. Interment will be in the Elm Lawn Cemetery in Elmhurst, IL. Memorials can be directed to the Portage County Nursing Home in Stevens Point, WI in the name of Lorraine M. Fischer. The Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst, WI is assisting the family with arrangements. The family of Lorraine Fischer extends a thank you to the caregivers at Northcrest Assisted Living, the physicians at Ministry St. Michael’s Hospital, and a very special thank you to the staff of the Portage County Nursing Home for the wonderful care given to Lorraine through the years.
