Louis Paul Johnson's Obituary
Johnson, Louis, Paul, 88, of the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, formerly of Golconda, IL, slipped peacefully into the hands of God on January, 23, 2013. Born in 1924, son of Agnes and Daniel Johnson, he grew up just outside of Chicago playing high school football and developing a lifelong love of the game, especially Notre Dame. He served the AAF during WWII in Normandy, France and central Europe, earning the rank of Sergeant, the Silver Battle Star and Good Conduct Medal. After the war, with the help of the GI bill, Louis earned a BS in Commercial Law a Doctor of Jurisprudence at DePaul University School. In 1953, he married the love of his life, fellow DePaul Law School graduate, Dolores Joan Johnson who survives him in LaCrosse, WI. Together they raised a family of seven, Paul, Daniel (Joyce), Louis (Nancy), Joel, Phillip (Celine), Ellen and Christine (Fred). After practicing law for 54 years, and touching the lives of hundreds of families across the State of Illinois and beyond, Louis retired to La Crosse, Wisconsin. Throughout his career, his passion was helping those in need with integrity, enthusiasm and intensity. Louis was a devoted husband and father and was very proud of his sons, daughters and eight grandchildren. At home he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, horseshoes and pinochle with his family and friends. Cremation will be provided by the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, WI. A memorial mass and celebration of life is tentatively planned for June 15 2013 at St Martha's Church in Morton Grove IL followed by internment on the family farm in Pope County, IL.
