Loyd G. Nelson's Obituary
Loyd G. Nelson, age 79, of Waupaca, WI, passed away suddenly Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at his residence. Loyd was born in Wayzata, MN on May 28, 1928, the son of the late Gustave and Esther (Hokanson) Nelson. On November 25, 1948, Loyd married Barbara Rubert in Wayzata, MN. She preceded him in death on September 15, 1995. On January 3, 2004, Loyd married Evelyn (Replogle) Jensen in Waupaca. Loyd was a long time Red Cross volunteer and blood donor. He also volunteered as an Elections official and was an avid gardener and loved crocheting. He was very active in The Apollo Club (Minneapolis Male Chorus), Community Chorus and Trinity Church Choir. He was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Loyd is survived by his wife: Evelyn Nelson of Waupaca, WI; his children: Paul (Mary Lou) Nelson of New London, WI; Susan R. Nelson of Minneapolis, MN; Gregg (Mary Jo) Nelson of Weyauwega, WI; Beth Nelson of Winona, MN; Barb (Jerry) Hahn of Minonk, IL and Charlotte (Todd) Montgomery of Janesville, WI; his step-children: James (Joelle) Jensen of Commerce City, CO; and Jay Jensen of Madison, WI; his sister: Charlotte Schiebe of Plymouth, MN; and his 12 grandchildren: Amanda (Chris) Wager; Colin, Anna & Claire Stumbras; Sam & Caitlin Nelson; Joeseph & Alex Kaster; Eli Hahn; Sr. M. Francesca; James & Amanda Jensen, and many loving nieces and nephews. Loyd was also preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Dale Nelson. Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waupaca, WI at 11 AM on Saturday, February 16, 2008 with Reverend Dr. Charles Tews, officiating. Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 4 to 7 PM at Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca. A Memorial Fund has been established in Loyd's name.
