Age 88 – died on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Bethany Home in Waupaca, WI. She was born on June 24, 1921 in Clintonville, WI, the daughter of Edgar and Dorothea (Reinke) Winkel. She married John H. Steiner on December 28, 1948 in Clintonville.
Lucile is survived by her husband, Dr. John H. Steiner of Waupaca; son, Dr. John W. (Bridie) Steiner of Neenah and their children, Michael (Briana) Steiner of Neenah, Dr. Lori Steiner (Dr. Nick Deer) of Eden Prairie, MN, and Megan (Jeremy) Hook of Oshkosh; and great grandsons, David Steiner and Jackson Hook; daughters, Judy Steiner of Madison, Joan (Michael) Schultz of Waupaca and their children, Emily Schultz-Fellenz (David Fellenz) and Elliot Schultz, both of Los Alamos, NM; and Jane Steiner of Jefferson. She is further survived by her sister, Lois Winkel of Clintonville, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Eunice Elbert.
Lucile had received her degree in nursing and had worked as a registered nurse. She had been active in many Waupaca community activities including serving on the Waupaca School Board and as a Cub Scout leader, as a member of the Waupaca Garden Club and the Monday Night Club, and volunteering with the Riverside Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary and for Red Cross Blood drives. She and John had also spent many years as members of the Waupaca Fine Arts Festival Board.
A memorial service will be held at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, WI on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 12:00 PM (Noon) with Reverend Barry Shaw, officiating. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until Noon. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established that will benefit local charities. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
