Lucy Iwanski's Obituary
Lucy Ann Iwanski, age 77, of Stevens Point, died on Sunday, December 7th, 2008 at Wausau Aspirus Hospital. Lucy died as a result of her battle with cancer. She died peacefully with family at her side. Lucy was born in Stevens Point on December 10, 1930, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Susan Yetka. During her 53 years of marriage to Leonard Iwanski, they were blessed to have a happy and healthy life on the Iwanski homestead farm in Amherst. Later the couple retired to Stevens Point. Lucy enjoyed playing cards, her hobby of sewing and traveling with her sisters. She especially loved watching her children and grandchildren play sports. Family time meant good food and a card game and no grandchild's age stopped them from playing with grandma. Lucy is survived by her husband: Leonard Iwanski, Stevens Point, WI; 4 Children: Daniel Iwanski, Columbus, OH; Linda (Rod) Lila, Plover, WI; Cheryl (Jon) Janowski, Milwaukee, WI; Allen (Jennifer) Iwanski, Sheboygan, WI; 8 Grandchildren: Dawn Iwanski; Tara, Nikki & Kendra Lila; Allyson & Keira Janowski; Jacob Iwanski and newest family addition, Nathan Iwanski; 2 Sisters: Hedwig (Ray) Jisko, Franklin, WI; Mary (Hubert) Gliniecki, Menomonee Falls, WI; Brother: Ted Yetka, West Virginia. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Fancher at 11 AM on Friday, December 12th, 2008 with Father Robert Pedretti officiating. Interment will be in the St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 - 8 PM, with a Rosary service at 7 PM at Jungers-Holly Funeral Home in Amherst. Visitation also on Friday from 10 - 11 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Wausau Aspirus Cancer Center. Lucy appreciated the hard work and efforts of their staff during her most difficult days.
