Luella Marguerite Wendt
August 30, 1919 - March 23, 2010 Our family treasure ,Luella, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, aunt and friend, was born in the Town of Royalton, Waupaca County, to Lydia and Clarence Koehler and lived in West Bloomfield most of her life, growing up on a farm and attending a country school. She and her husband, Marlyn Wendt owned a dairy farm in West Bloomfield, moving to Waupaca later. Marlyn preceded Luella in death on August 2, 1981. Luella was an outstanding cook, loved reading and writing, grew some spectacular flower gardens, so enjoyed being with friends and loved her church. She was a wonderful caregiver, happiest when doing for others She treasured her children and visited them as they moved from Wisconsin to live in various parts of the United States. She enjoyed her grandchildren, especially cooking for them. She was an amazing, beautiful and fashionable lady who was so proud that all of her children graduated from college. Luella's greatest generation lived from horse and buggy days through the space age. Luella is survived by her children; Karen Sykes, and husband, Gordon, of Lake Oswego, OR; Jon Wendt, and wife, Ellen, of Sequim, WA; Ann Marchetta,and husband, Nick of Waupaca, WI; and Mark Wendt and wife Jill, of Waupaca, WI;. her grandchildren, Antoinette, Elizabeth, Jessica, John, Chris, Andrew and Rachel; her great-granddaughters, Becky, Sarah, Emily, Abby, Alison and Dawn and her sister, Gloria Hoeft of Santa Maria, CA. Luella was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother. A celebration of Luella's life will be held at 11AM Tuesday, March 30,2010 at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Waupaca, WI. Visitation will be from 10-11AM in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be in the Concordia Cemetery, Town of Bloomfield. During the past few years, Luella's children contributed to a scholarship fund that they established called the Marlyn and Luella Wendt Scholarship Fund. These scholarships will be awarded to a graduate of Christ Lutheran School , West Bloomfield, WI who is pursuing higher education leading to full-time, professional church work. Donations may be made to this fund in lieu of flowers. Checks should be made out to Family Fund c/o Jon Wendt, 855 Louella Heights Dr., Sequim, WA 98382.
