Lyda E. Lind's Obituary
Lyda E. Lind, age 89 of Pine River, WI, passed away on Monday October 8, 2012. Lyda was born on May 23, 1923, the daughter of John and Laura (Buchholtz) Sattler in Poy Sippi, WI. Lyda was Baptized into Christ on June 10, 1923 and later confirmed on March 23, 1937 at Emmaus. She spent her school years at the Poy Sippi Grade School, where she completed 8th grade. Lyda married the late Charles Lind on May 4, 1947 at Emmaus Lutheran Church, Poy Sippi. The Rev. John Pingel officiated. They celebrated 63 years of marriage together. Their marriage was blessed with two sons and a daughter. After marriage, the couple lived and worked on Chuck's home farm. In October of 1949, they moved to the present farm and home. They raised Registered Holstein Cattle. Lyda loved to garden and awaited the spring planting season as she browsed through the seed catalogs that would arrive in the mail during the winter. Lyda was a 4-H project leader for many years for Cross Country 4-H Club. She would also enter many baked goods, along with her garden flowers, produce and field grasses in the County Fair. Lyda enjoyed attending the Waushara County Fair for over 50 years. Lyda always made time for her family including Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. From homemade cookies, to bread and fresh baked pies, Lyda always found time in her busy day to whip something up and would include the Grandchildren in making rolled out Christmas Cookies. Lyda had a passion for writing and remembering friends, relatives and loved one's celebrating Birthdays, Anniversaries, and those who were ill and needed some cheering up. If a card or letter was not sent, she would be sure to make a phone call just to let them know they were remembered. Included with this was over 60 years of corresponding with several pen pals. Lyda was also a diligent diary keeper and recorded in it daily all of her married life. Lyda was a faithful member of Emmaus Ev. Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi and sang in the choir for many years. She also taught Sunday School.
Lyda is survived by her sons; Michael (Kathleen) Lind of Pine River, WI and Phillip (Donna) Lind of Pine River, WI; one daughter Patricia (Bruce Hamilton) Lind of Hudson, WI; grandchildren Nathan (Becky) Lind, Matthew (Stephanie) Lind, Melissa (Nathan) Najdowski, Sarah Lind, Stephanie Lind, Andrew Lind, and Derek Lind; great grandchildren Connor Lind, Aden Carlson, Emma Najdowski, Theresa Najdowski, Ethan Najdowski; two sisters Stella Wendt of Weyauwega, WI and Marjory (Frank) Muscavich of Pine River, WI; one sister-in-law Georgia Sattler of Poy Sippi, WI, many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Lyda was preceded in death by her parents, John and Laura Sattler; her husband Charles Lind; one sister Alice Pollack; and one brother John Sattler Jr. A funeral service will be held on Saturday October 13, 2012 at 1 P.M. at the Emmaus Ev. Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi. Rev. Mark Meier Sr. will officiate, with burial to follow in the Brushville Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday October 12, 2012 from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. at the church and again on Saturday at the church from 12 noon until the time of the service at 1 P.M. We look forward to seeing Lyda and all the faithful in the Resurrection.
