Lyle James Cook
King, WI (formerly of Monticello, WI) Age 62 – died on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was born on August 15, 1951 in Platteville, WI, the son of Lawrence and Lavora (Rice) Cook.
Lyle had served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War and was stationed in Germany. He had a number of interests including wood working, bicycling, and music. Lyle became a resident of the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King in July of 2010.
Lyle is survived by his only daughter: Melissa (Matt) Thorson of Viroqua, brothers: Keith (Bea) Cook of Tennessee, Stephen (Sue) Cook of Brodhead, Dennis Cook of Monroe, Michael Cook of Monroe, sisters: Carol (Ron) Loomis of Georgetown, FL, Marylin Hoffmann of Beloit, Cheryl (Russell) Warriner of Beloit, Catherine (Jeff) Gilbertson of Albany, and Connie (Michael) Pederson of Argyle. Lyle is further survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lawrence and Cecil, and a sister, Myla.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Main Chapel of the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI, with Chaplain David Guerrero, officiating. Interment will be in the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, WI. A visitation will be held at the Main Chapel in King on Friday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Military Honors will be observed following the funeral service. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
