Mabel Burkwald's Obituary
Mabel G. (Vergin) Burkwald, age 87, of Poy Sippi, WI, passed away Friday, May 16th, 2008 at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh. She was born in Redgranite, WI on March 13, 1921, the daughter of Alfred and Olga (Turnow) Rivers. Mabel married Ronald Stub Vergin on July 23, 1938 in Redgranite, WI. Together they owned and operated the Poy Sippi Bowling Lanes for sixteen years. He preceded her in death on December 17, 1985. She married Allen Burkwald on February 18, 1989. He preceded her in death in 2006. She is survived by Son: Reggie (Judith) Vergin, Poy Sippi, WI; Daughter: Kathy (Brian) Welch, Berlin, WI; Daughter-in-law: Karen Vergin, Berlin, WI; Grandchildren: Kim (George) Huerth, Poy Sippi, WI; Gina (David) Brooks, Berlin, WI; Michelle (Special Friend, Jeff) Walters, Ripon, WI; Micki (Doug) Kastenschmidt, Ripon, WI; J.R. Schmidt, Oshkosh, WI; Brad Vergin, Berlin, WI; Kevin (Rachel) Vergin, Berlin, WI; Bryan (Jennifer) Vergin, Detroit, MI; Kyle Vergin, Berlin, WI; Brett Vergin, Berlin, WI; Kelsey Vergin, Berlin, WI; Roger Vergin, Jr., Green Lake, WI; Thirteen Great Grandchildren; Sister: Frances Hodgkins, Texas; Brothers: Ervin (Sharon) Rivers, Princeton, WI; Fred (Marion) Rivers, Berlin. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Mabel was preceded in death by Parents; Husbands, Ronald Stub Vergin and Allen Burkwald; Two Sons, Roger and Larry; Brother, Harry Rivers; and a Sister, Gladys Nitzke A Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM on Monday, May 19, 2008 at First Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi, with Reverend David Sielaff officiating. Interment will be in Poy Sippi Cemetery. A Visitation will be held on Monday from 9AM until 11 AM at Holly Funeral Home in Poy Sippi and again on Monday from 12 Noon until the time of the service at First Lutheran Church.
