Malcolm Barney “Mike” Wade
King, WI (Formerly of Kewaskum, WI) Age 80 – died on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at the Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca, WI. He was born on May 1, 1928 in Little Rock, AR, the son of Barney and Carrie Belle (Evans) Wade. Mike had served in the U.S. Air Force from July 26, 1946 until he was honorably discharged on April 29, 1954, having served in both WW II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Fohl-Martin American Legion Post #483 in Allenton, WI. For the past ten years he was living at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, WI. In his younger days he was a horse jockey, and he later became a horse trainer. He owned and had run several ranches, raising quarter horses. Mike married and had four children with their mother “Ike” (Iola Moen), Mike, Bill, Chuck, and Judy Wade. He has ten grandchildren who loved him dearly and called him “Grandpa Barney”, Jeff, Peter, Ryan, Ben, Bridgette, Eric, Gabrielle, and Matt, children of Mike and Wendy Wade of Theresa, Brandon, son of Bill and Patty Wade of Valrico, FL, and Naomi, daughter of Chuck Wade of Houston, TX. He is further survived by his sister Hilda (Bill) Eubank, brother Ronald (Karleen) Wade, and sister-in-law Connie Wade. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Dennis. He will always be remembered in our hearts as a true Texas cowboy. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Main Chapel of the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, WI. Interment will be in the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at King, WI. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the Main Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Fohl-Martin American Legion Post # 483, P.O. Box 2, Allenton, WI 53302 in memory of Malcolm B. ”Mike” Wade. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
