Maretta M. Dopp's Obituary
Maretta M. Dopp, age 100, of Wild Rose, WI, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, January 13, 2025. Born on October 29, 1924, in New London, WI, she was the cherished only child of Royal "Roy" A. and Margaret I. (Morris) Bruce.
Maretta graduated from Waupaca High School in 1942 and soon after married the love of her life, W. Russell Dopp, on December 12, 1942, in Waupaca. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising six children and creating countless cherished memories. Maretta and Russell shared 61 wonderful years together until his passing on September 21, 2004.
Maretta’s life was marked by her deep faith and active involvement in her community. A longtime member of the Dopp Methodist Church and later the Wild Rose United Methodist Church, she nurtured connections that spanned generations. Her earlier years were filled with the joy of dancing, as well as her talents in quilting and sewing. Later in life, she found happiness in bird watching, reading, and enjoying classic westerns.
A devoted participant in community activities, Maretta loved playing Bingo and card games at the Wild Rose Senior Center. As a founding member of the Wild Rose Lioness Club, she exemplified the spirit of service, touching the lives of many.
Maretta’s legacy lives on through her family: her children Charles (Sherry) Dopp of Almond, Jacci Dopp of Wild Rose, and Patti (Kenneth) Edgren of Almond; her daughter-in-law Donna Dopp of Wild Rose; six grandchildren Michael (Kelli) Dopp of Almond, Joey (Colleen) Dopp of Almond, James (Brenda) Dopp of Delta, CO, Paul Dopp of Wild Rose, Rebecca (Thad) Schwede of Embarrass, and Jason Edgren of New London; granddaughter-in-law Maria Dopp of Ellsworth; nine great-grandchildren, including Alec (Courtney) Dopp of AZ, Isaac Dopp of Washington, DC, Kelton (Morgan) Dopp of Neenah, Konlan Dopp of Neenah, Kaidan Dopp of Almond, Amelia Dopp of Ellsworth, Adeline Dopp of Ellsworth, and Tayla and Carley Schwede of Embarrass; three step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, Oliver Dopp of Neenah and Maddox Dopp of AZ; seven step-great-great-grandchildren; and many other beloved relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Russell; her sons Gary, Dennis, and Bruce Dopp; her grandsons Robert "Robbie" Dopp and Jacob Edgren; and other dear family members.
A celebration of Maretta’s life will take place on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 12:00 Noon at the Wild Rose United Methodist Church, 225 Summit Street, Wild Rose, WI. Pastor Kari Riley will officiate. A visitation will be held on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow the service on Saturday at Greenvale (Dopp) Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to a charity of your choice. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who shared in Maretta’s journey. The Holly Funeral Home of Wild Rose is honored to assist the family during this time. Maretta’s warmth, love, and enduring strength will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
