Marilyn A. Kopan
Waupaca, WI (formerly of Milwaukee) Age 88 – died on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Weyauwega Health Care Center in Weyauwega, WI. She was bon on October 22, 1923 in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Alfred and Margot (Diedrich) Brand. She was first married to Dr. Fred Bechteler. He preceded her in death in 1984. She then married John Yashinsky. He preceded her in death in 2001. She married Howard Kopan on October 11, 2003 in Wauwatosa, WI.
Marilyn is survived by her husband: Howard, sons: Fred (Rinie) Bechteler of Wauwatosa, and Matthew (Christine) Bechteler of Schaumburg, IL, grandchildren: Mark Bechteler, Adam Bechteler, Alex Bechteler, Andrew Bechteler, Danielle Eygabrod, Ronna Parker, Trevor Timm, Travis Timm, and Monty Bartelt, and six great grandchildren. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husbands: Dr. Fred Bechteler and John Yashinsky, her daughter: Christine Bechteler, her parents, and a brother: Dr. William D. Brand.
Marilyn had been the assistant to the business manager for the Elmbrook, WI School District for many years. At a point in her life she converted to Catholicism and became a chaplain, training in the Milwaukee Diocese. She volunteered her services as a chaplain and in other areas at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI. She was a gifted musician and had played professionally as a church organist.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 11:00 am at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church (Fancher), near Amherst, WI. Interment will be in the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, WI. A visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 am. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
