Marjorie DeVaud's Obituary
Marjorie G. DeVaud, age 91, of Waupaca, WI, passed away Friday, May 19th, 2006 at Bethany Home in Waupaca. She was born in Tigerton, WI on September 26, 1914, the daughter of Dr. Adam J. and Mary (Roemer) Gates. She married John DeVaud on October 19, 1937 in Clintonville, WI. Marge was active in the Red Cross and a member of Eastern Star. She enjoyed golfing, curling, and was an avid bridge player. Marge and John moved to Waupaca in 1967 where John served as Waupaca County Treasurer until 1985. In Waupaca, Marge worked as a school nurse for 14 years. John preceded her in death on August 23, 2001. In May of 2001 Marjorie married Dr. Lewis Thomas in Clintonville. Marjorie is survived by Husband: Lewis Thomas, Waupaca, WI; Daughter: Lynne (Keith) Zauner, Greenfield, WI; Son: Craig A. (JoAnn) DeVaud, Oshkosh, WI; Step-Sons: Mark (Pam) Thomas, Birmingham, MI; John (Sheri) Thomas, Hudson, WI; Seven Grandchildren; Two Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, John DeVaud; an infant daughter, and a brother, Wallace Gates. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, May 22, 2006 at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca with Reverend Fred Lueders officiating. Interment of cremains will be in Greenleaf Cemetery in Marion. A Memorial Visitation will be held Monday at the funeral home from 10 AM until the time of the service.
