Marjorie May Telfer's Obituary
Marjorie May (Rasmussen) Telfer age 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep Friday October 23, 2015 at Bethany Home Waupaca. Marge was born on January 16, 1928 to the late Nels and Georgia (Carlson) Rasmussen. She married Jerome Rockwell Telfer December 4, 1949 with whom she shared a warm and fulfilling life until his death July 27, 1993.
The greatest joy of her life was her family and time spent with each and every one of them. She was always willing to care for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family holiday traditions were very important to her. She enjoyed decorating her home inside and out and loved to cook and bake for each holiday, oyster stew, Christmas cookies, fudge, popcorn, and caramel apples. Not to leave out her favorite Old Fashions and Tom and Jerry’s. Marge loved gardening and her yard showed it. You could catch her daily working at the Nels Rasmussen Park (a tribute to her father) with other members of the Waupaca Garden Club. The Waupaca Garden Club is still carrying on the tradition. Marge loved to bowl and participated in numerous leagues and tournaments until her body no longer allowed it. She was also a long time member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW Post 1037 of Waupaca and volunteered at the Wisconsin Veterans Home. Years ago she worked at Moore-O-Matic, but she was really known for her job as the Crossing Guard at the Fifth Street and School Street intersection. Working as a crossing guard allowed her to be home with her husband and children. Being an active member of the First United Methodist Church, she was in choir, ushering, alter duty and later the Support Group.
