Martin Bunge Jr.'s Obituary
Martin F Bunge JR, U.S. Army veteran left this life peacefully to be with his heavenly Father, joining his wife, Frieda K Bunge; parents, Martin F Bunge Sr and Alma Louise Bunge; brother Ellsworth and his wife Donna; brother Richard Allen Bunge; brother Robert Bunge; sister-in-law, Joan Bunge; sister-in-law, Helen Nelson; sister-in-law Dorothy Acker. He is survived by his son, John Bunge, daughter Marie Leitner and son-in-law Kevin Leitner of Cypress, Texas; grandchildren: Erica, Kyle, Ryan and Reagan Leitner; brother, Merrill Bunge; sister-in-law, Eileen Bunge; brother-in-law, Robert Nelson; brother-in-law, Dr. Herbert Acker and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Martin was born on his parent’s farm in Downers Grove, Illinois December 25, 1932. He was confirmed by Immanuel Lutheran Church and graduated from York High School in Elmhurst, Illinois. He was known to his family and friends as Skip. He was drafted into the Army at the end of the Korean conflict and was stationed in Germany. After his service he worked for the Downers Grove movie theatre and transferred to Rochester, Indiana. There he met his beautiful wife, Frieda K. Kampen. After they married they moved to Wheaton, Illinois and he worked for his Dad delivering milk. They had their first child on April 8, 1961 and moved to Glen Ellyn; their second child arrived July 31, 1964. The city closed in around them and they made another move to unincorporated Lombard; where they lived 20 years. After their children moved out, they downsized their living arrangements, moving to Villa Park. His loving wife passed away on February 16, 1995 and Martin moved to Wisconsin, where he enjoyed the small town atmosphere, wildlife and seasons. He enjoyed the most important meal of the day; breakfast, in which he would have two everyday: peanut butter on toast and a banana or oatmeal and later something hearty. His favorite drink was black coffee; whenever you would visit Skip he would make sure you had a cup of hot coffee or later in the day; a beer. He was warm and friendly to everyone he met and will be greatly missed by all. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 2, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 S. Ardmore Avenue, Villa Park, IL at 12 Noon. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
