Marvin J. Williams' Obituary
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Marvin J. Williams at the Wisconsin Veterans Home, King, WI. on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019 at 91 years old. Beloved husband of Norma (Herrington) Williams, Marvin the son of the late Griffith Elmer Williams and Emma Helen Williams. Marvin will always be remembered as compassionate man who cares more about others needs than his own needs.
Marvin was born November 27, 1927 into a farming family of five children in Wild Rose Wisconsin. He proceeded in death by two older sisters Dorothy Bradley and Marcellé Dake, and one older brother Willard Williams and one younger brother Lowell Williams. Marvin completed a high school education at Wild Rose High School. In August 1948 he enlisted into the US Army. In August 1950 he was assigned to the 439th engineering construction battalion. Marvin was in South Korea during the Korean War. He followed the front lines as they pushed north rebuilding roads, bridges and towns in South Korea. Marvin received a honorable discharge December 1951 with the ranking of corporal and a military qualification of expert marksmen Ml rifle. After returning from Korea he married Norma Herrington June 1953. They moved to Hometown, IL and raised family of 3 boys, Loving father of Mark (Mary), Scott (Annette) and Glen (Linda). Marvin worked for Union Carbide as machine operator specializing in research and development until he retired at the age of 63 in 1989. Marvin enjoyed fishing all his life and had many Canadian fishing trips before and after his retirement. Marvin is the proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren, Tom, Garrett, Kathryn, Daniel Colleen, Bryant, Jacob, Christopher, David, and James. Fondly remembered by 5 Great Grandchildren, Nora, Fleur, Clare, Willow, Owen, Colin.
The Memorial Service Will be on Saturday, March 16 at 11 AM at the Wild Rose Presbyterian Church with Pastor Alyson Janke, officiating. Memorial Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:30 - 11:00 AM at the church, 501 Jackson St. Wild Rose. Burial with military rites will follow the services at Caersalem Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to "Garrett John Williams Memorial Fund". Donations may be mailed to 6018 Osage, Downers Grover Il 60516.
