MARY AILEEN SCHMIEL-DOUTHIT
WAUPACA, WISCONSIN
FORMERLY OF CHICAGO, IL Age 53 passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at Bethany Home in Waupaca. She was born November 20, 1952 in Neenah, WI; daughter of Edgar H. and Marjorie L. (Littell) Schmiel. On May 18, 1997, Mary Aileen married Evan B. Douthit in Chicago, IL. Mary Aileen was a college instructor through Loyola University and St. Augustine College where she taught religion, women’s studies, and ethics. She was an accomplished harpist, an avid gardener, birder, and was involved as a prairie restorationist. Mary Aileen was a leader in peace and justice activities both in the U.S. and abroad. Mary Aileen is survived by:
Husband: Evan Douthit of Waupaca, WI and Chicago, IL
Mother: Marjorie (Littell) Schmiel of Sarasota, FL
Cousins: Miriam Littell and Steve Littell of Evanston, IL
She is also survived by many other relatives and friends. Mary Aileen was preceded in death by her father, Edgar H. Schmiel. A Funeral Service will be on Saturday, September 23, 2006 at 10:00 AM at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca. Reverend Roy Geenen will officiate. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Barton Cemetery in the Town of Farmington following the services on Saturday.
