Mary Hart's Obituary
Mary Frances Hart, age 96 and a devout Catholic, was called to be with her loving God on December 15, 2024. She was born on October 8, 1928 to Lawrence and Ethel Alvin in Revillo, SD. In 1949, she married Marvin Hart and together they were blessed with four children. Mary began her married life in Hill Point, WI but when Marvin’s job at the Dairy’s moved to Reedsburg, so did Mary and the kids. There she worked at the Sewing Factory, where her and the other sewing ladies always seemed to find “mischief". After that she worked as a nursing assistant at The Reedsburg Area Hospital. Unfortunately, Marvin passed away in 1968. After Marvin’s death, Mary moved to Wild Rose and then to Waupaca, WI. She continued her work as a CNA working at the Veterans Home in King, where she retired after over 30 years of dedicated service to our Veterans. Mary was always up for an adventure and never missed an opportunity to gather with family and friends. She was a social butterfly that had the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone. In fact, by the time, she parted ways with a stranger they were no longer strangers but friends. Mary also loved the outdoors. One of her greatest accomplishments was her incredible "green thumb". If you lived in Waupaca, you probably marveled at Mary's front yard. Her flower beds were magnificent whether it be spring, summer, or fall she had an assortment for all. She also enjoyed the water and spending time on The Chain O' Lakes. She loved to travel and frequently visited areas of Mexico to concentrate on the "sun". With her love of traveling and strong Catholic faith she visited Europe many times concentrating on several religious sites. Mary was also an avid walker and could frequently be seen walking the streets of Waupaca. In 2021, she had a minor setback with a fractured hip that needed surgical repair. After surgery she spent some time rehabilitating in Kaukauna, WI. From there it made more sense for her to be closer to family so she moved to Copperstone Assisted Living in Neenah, WI. She resided there the past 3 years where she continued to walk daily.
Mary had many friends over the years including her friend Sharon Holtane who continued to visit her from Waupaca over the past few years and a friend Sondra Rumpel who faithfully sent her cards on a monthly basis just to say "Hi".
She is survived by her son Rick (Sue) Hart, 3 grandsons Lee (Laurie), Nate (Jessica) and Matthew Hart, 1 granddaughter Lisa Graser and 8 great grandchildren; Ayden, Brody, Carlee, Connor, Ryder, Willow, Layla and Elijah.
She is preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Ethel Alvin, her husband Marvin Hart, brothers and sisters Eileen, Elizabeth, Michael and John and three of her children; Larry, Tom and Sue.
A memorial service will be held on Friday December 27, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, WI. A memorial gathering will be held on Friday December 27, 2024 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, WI.
