Mary Jean Dins' Obituary
Mary Jean Dins of Waupaca passed away on August 21, 2013 at Iola Living Assistance. Mary Jean was born in Ashland on April 23, 1929 to Bert and Adeline Mattson. She was married to Charles E. (Charlie) Dins on Feb. 12, 1949. Mary Jean spent most of her time prior to Charlie’s retirement managing the household and taking care of their three children, but she also worked for several years at The Rose Shop in Appleton. Mary Jean was a long-time member of St. Mary Magdalene Church in Waupaca and a friend of Bill W. for over 20 years. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend – and the most passionate Packer fan of all time! Mary Jean is survived by her son Charles of Iola, daughter Kathryn and daughter-in-law Valerie of Portland Oregon as well as her five grandchildren: Justin, Melanie, Mitchell, Valerie, and Stuart. Her sisters LaVerne Miller of Ashland and Sandie Fronczak of Weyauwega and brother Don Mattson of Washburn also survive her, along with many nieces and nephews. Husband Charles, son Gary, granddaughter Jacqueline, and sister Joyce Johnson preceded Mary Jean in death. Mary Jean’s family would like to thank the staff of Iola Living Assistance for their compassionate care, as well as Theda Care Hospice for assistance with end-of-life care. Internment will be at St. Mary Magdalene Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the National Alzheimer’s Association or to a local Alzheimer’s organization.
