Mary D. Kuemmeth's Obituary
After a long life well-lived, Mary Dolores Kuemmeth, age 86, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Whispering Pines in Plover. Mary was born in Almond on December 25, 1928, the daughter of the late Edward and Regina (Ostrowski) Czajkowski. On August 25, 1951, she married George (Tom) Kuemmeth in Chicago and he preceded her in death on July 17, 2003. Though her life was sometimes touched with great sadness, Mary's life held even more laughter. She had a quick wit, a kind and loving heart and a strong faith that brought her comfort in hard times. She loved reading, playing bingo, bunco, pinochle and watching sports. Mom had a smile for everyone whether she knew them or not.
Mary leaves behind nine loving children; Regina (Steve) Wimmer; Colette (Kurt Lustig) Kuemmeth; Mary- Ellen Blankenship; Michael (Christine) Kuemmeth; Barbara (James) Long; Peter (Kathy) Kuemmeth; Martin Kuemmeth; Steven Kuemmeth; Susan (Patrick Burns) Kuemmeth. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, George (Tom), an infant sister and a son-in-law, Curtis Blankenship.
The Funeral Mass will be on Friday, May 8 at 10 AM at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, Town of Buena Vista with Father Jim Trempe, presiding. Burial will follow in the Hope Cemetery, Heffron. Visitation will be on Thursday evening from 4 to 8 PM at the Hardell-Holly Funeral Home in Almond with a Prayer Service at 7 PM and on Friday morning from 9 AM until the time of mass at church.
She was our family's touchstone and the glue that held us all together. Our world has lost our sun but gained a bright star in her passing. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Alzheimer's research in Mary's name.
