Mary A. Pennewell's Obituary
Mary Alice (Barton) Pennewell, age 89 of Wild Rose, passed away on Tuesday August 10, 2024. Mary was born October 20, 1934, the daughter of Virgil and Ruby (Richards) Barton in Pleasant Hill, IL. She was baptized in the Christian Church in Pleasant Hill started by her great-great grandfather. Mary and her husband Lawrence Pennewell were married on July 10, 1959 at First Congregational Church in Oshkosh, WI. Mary taught High School business education for 41 years. She was known for her sparkling personality and ability to endear herself to anyone she spoke with.
Mary is survived by her children, William Pennewell of Aubrey, TX, Susan Pennewell of Mt. Morris, WI, Robert (Sarah) Pennewell of Appleton, WI: grandchildren, Olivia Battaglia, Ruby Battaglia, Jacob Battaglia, Ryan Pennewell: step-grandchildren Alex Dollevoet and Madison Dollevoet: and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Pennewell; her brothers, Logan Burdette Barton and Richard Dale Barton; her sisters, Mildred June Butterfield, Eva Mae Barton, and Norma Jean Griffeth; and her parents Virgil John and Ruby Pauline (Richards) Barton.
A graveside service will be held on Monday September 16, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the First Springwater Cemetery. The Holly Funeral Home of Wild Rose, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
