I am so sorry to hear of this loss. Mrs Kleist was my very favorite teacher at Plainfield Grade School. She was so warm and caring. I was delighted to have reconnected with her several years ago. She was always learning and doing.

My absolute favorite teacher of all time. What a wonderful lady and the world needs more of them not less. A memory of Mrs. Kleist etched in my memory was the day JFK was shot I was walking up the stairs with her from the lunch room when the announcement came over the intercom and everything just stopped. I guess we shared a where were you when this happened moment in history.
To Tom and the family accept my sympathies...she was a fine lady.

I just learned of Melva's passing from my cousins, Bill and Jeanette Handrich. I am so sorry to hear of the news. My mom, Velda Skagen was a cousin to Melva and I see that
Melva's service will be on my mother's birthday, Sept. 12. I am sure that my mom and Melva are sharing memories together up in heaven. I have so enjoyed all of the Christmas cards I have received from Melva and her wonderful poems. I wish I hadn't lived so far away so that I could have gotten to know her better. Thinking of you all.
