Merle Turner's Obituary
MERLE D. TURNER
ALMOND, WISCONSIN Age 90, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Crystal River Nursing Home in Waupaca, WI. He was born January 14, 1920 in the Town of Belmont, Portage Co., WI; son of Fred and Florence (Bucknell) Turner. Merle served in the U.S. Army Airforce during WWII from July 6, 1942 – January 6, 1946. He had been stationed on the island of Tinian in the Western Pacific. On October 27, 1962, Merle married Adora Eastman at the Almond United Methodist Church in Almond, WI. After serving in the military, he became a cash crop farmer in Almond until 1974. Merle then went to work at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King where he was a supervisor in their housekeeping department. After retirement, Merle enjoyed fishing and making fishing jigs during the winter months. At the present time, he especially enjoyed catfishing. Merle is survived by:

He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Florence Turner; two brothers, John Turner and Claire Turner; and four sisters, Naomi Wiles, Marie Harvey, Lea Wenzel, and Doris Ryan. A Memorial Service will be on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca, WI. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca. Burial of cremains will take place at First Belmont Cemetery in the Town of Belmont in the spring.
