MERRITT BRADLEY SCOTT
SHAWANO, WISCONSIN
FORMERLY OF WAUPACA, WISCONSIN Age 74, passed away after several years of declining health on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at Appleton Medical Center in Appleton, WI. Brad was born December 26, 1934 in Waupaca, WI; son of Lt. Commander Allen Scott and Vivian (nee: Bradley) Scott. He was an honors graduate of Waupaca High School where he played football and baseball, and was a delegate to Badger Boys State in 1951. He attended Carroll College for two years, worked for Scott Abstract, and then served in the U.S. Navy where he was the editor of the U.S.S. Saratoga’s newspaper. After the navy, he received his B.A. degree and teaching accreditation from U.W. Madison where he achieved a 4.0 G.P.A. He taught high school history at LaCrosse and Merrill Middle Schools, along with coaching track and baseball. He later worked as a social worker for Waupaca and Rock counties. Brad completed studies for his Masters Degree in counseling at U.W. Oshkosh in 1972. He was Parent Coordinator for the Fond du Lac Headstart Program. Brad also assisted his son, David, at his flight school in Shawano, WI. His compassion was shown in his employment which he took very seriously. Brad is survived by his sons, David Allen Scott of Shawano and Daniel Jon Scott of Oshkosh; his sister, Pauline Pomerenke of Waupaca; granddaughter, Madeline of Oshkosh; two nieces, Jody of Georgia and Jill of Waupaca; and three nephews, Rick, James, and Steve of Waupaca. He is also survived by several great-nieces and nephews. His former spouse, Kay Ellen Pertzborn also survives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lt. Commander Allen and Vivian Scott. A Private Family Celebration of Brad’s Life will be held at a later date. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements. HOLLY FUNERAL HOME
