Milda E. Van Airsdale's Obituary
Milda Emma VanAirsdale, nee Hallman, 80, went to God's eternal peace on Thursday, January 22, 2009, after a long struggle with illness. The last six months she spent in Portland, OR, at the home of her oldest daughter, Sharon (Joel Parker), where she enjoyed playing pinochle and visiting with her granddaughter, Megan Murtaugh (Stefan Larkin) and Great Grandson Finneas Larkin. Her youngest daughter, Barbara, and her Grandson Ian Darnell visited in early December from Florida and many hours were spent going through old photo albums and sharing memories. Milda was the daughter of Arthur Hallman and Lydia (Gettendorf) Hallman who preceded her in death, as did her oldest brother Gordon Hallman. She was married to James VanAirsdale for nearly sixty years until he passed away in 2006. In addition to her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandson, she is survived by her sister Dorothy Schmidt (Arthur), brother Rev. Gerhardt Hallman (Beverly), her many nieces and nephews, and friends. She found great spiritual comfort and a loving community at St. John's Lutheran Church in Saxeville, WI, where her memorial service and burial will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be on Weds. morning from 10 AM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. John's Lutheran Church are requested. Holly Funeral Home in Wild Rose is assisting the family with arrangements.
