We were neighbors of John and Millie on Woodburn Drive in Madison for many years. We always looked forward to visiting with them at our block and Christmas parties. We loved looking at their beautiful orchids and the flower gardens they tended. They were truly a special couple. Millie was a very gratious and generous to me as a college friend of her daughter Mary. Mary and I spent summer afternoons at Lake Sunset and would stop by for dinner or a quick visit. Millie took care of me when I was ill one spring. I am glad I had that experience. She will be greatly missed. What a wonderful family. What a wonderful person. You have my deepest sympathy. Mildred was my very first patient as a practical nurse student from MSTI. I cared for her after knee surgery at St. Michael's Hospital in Steven's Point in 1979. I was a little intimidated at first because she was the DON of the Veteran's Home in King, but she was so nice to me and put me at ease right away. I will always remeber Mildred my very first patient. I have been in Nursing almost 33 years now and became an RN in 1991.
