Mildred (Millie) J. Anderson's Obituary
Mildred (Millie) June Anderson (nee Thompson) went to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 28, 2017 surrounded by family. She was born June 9, 1926 in the Township of Wautoma to Otto and Carrie (nee Jarvis) Thompson. Millie spent her early years growing up on Pine Hill Farm with her sisters, Annabel and Maxine. She attended Progressive and Guernsey-Dale country schools. She would go on to attend Wautoma, Weyauwega and Wild Rose High Schools, graduating from Wild Rose High School in 1945. Mildred then went to work at Badger Munitions near Madison, WI for the summer. Upon her return to Wild Rose she got a job at the local drug store, as a soda jerk, where she met her future husband Theodore (Ted) Anderson.
Millie and Ted were married on June 4, 1948 at Mt. Morris Holden Lutheran Church. They settled on the Anderson family farm near Norwegian Lake where they raised their five children, Myron, Christine, Alan, Mary and Julie. Her greatest joy in life was her family. Millie would later pass on her love of baking to her grandchildren. There are many fond memories of making lefse with Grandma in the kitchen at the family farm. She also had a great love of history as well her Norwegian heritage.
Millie was a long-time member of Mt. Morris Holden Lutheran Church where she was active in the women's group as well as the Sunday school. She shared her love of Jesus with her family and friends and was known to many to be a prayer warrior. Millie was great resource on church history and was instrumental in planning the church's 125th anniversary celebration.
Millie was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Carrie; her in-laws, William and Sarah; husband, Ted Anderson; three sisters, Annabel (Alvin) Holt, Maxine (Orin) Schleicher, and Hulda Thompson; and her oldest son, Myron (Mike) Anderson.
She is survived by her children, Christine (Arnie) Bliesner, Wautoma; Alan (Cheryl) Anderson, Wild Rose; Mary (Al) Tatzel, Butternut; and Julie (Bruce) Vollbrecht, Menomonee Falls; daughter-in-law, Heather Anderson, Wild Rose; grandchildren, Ted (Amber) Anderson, Montello; Jason, Lars and Tara Anderson of Wild Rose; Eric (Carrie) Anderson, Wild Rose; Matthew (Kathy) Anderson, Pittsville; Marc Anderson, Elmwood; Luke Anderson, Waupaca; Andy (special friend, Mandy) Tatzel, Park Falls; Ben Tatzel, Superior; Carrie (Al) Forbes, Menomonee Falls; and Jamieson (special friend, Tracey) Vollbrecht, Fayetteville, NC; and her great-grandchildren, Alex, Emma, Abby A., Jayden, Abby L., Landon, Jonas, Bethany, William and Kristabelle; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.
A Funeral Service will be on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Mount Morris Holden Lutheran Church in the Town of Mount Morris, WI. A visitation will be held on Friday evening, September 1st, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Holly Funeral Home in Wild Rose and again on Saturday morning from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will be at Mount Morris Holden Cemetery following the service on Saturday. A memorial has been established in Mildred’s name. The Holly Funeral Home of Wild Rose is assisting the family with arrangements.
