Myrna M. Tostenson's Obituary
Myrna M. Tostenson, age 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 23, 2015. She was born April 20, 1920 in Poy Sippi, Wisconsin, the daughter of Alfred and Anna (Nielsen) Olsen. Myrna was married in 1953 to her dearly beloved husband, Harry E. Tostenson, who preceded her in death in 2004.
Myrna graduated from Berlin High School in 1938. She continued her education at County Normal in Wautoma, Wisconsin, and attended Dana College in Blair, Nebraska. She was loved as an elementary teacher in public and Christian schools and also as a piano teacher.
Myrna was a life-long member of First Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi, WI where she also served as organist for 70 years, directed the choir, taught Bible School, participated in the women's ministries and was the prayer chain coordinator until recently. Myrna always had a spirit of generosity, a heart for missions and an active world-wide prayer ministry.
Myrna is survived by her son: James Tostenson and his wife, Laurie of Fremont, WI; daughter: Ingrid Winckler and her husband, John of Chambersburg, PA; three grandsons: Jason and wife, Alicia Winckler, Jesse Winckler and fiancé, Sara Griswold, and special joy 6-year old Adrian Tostenson and two great-granddaughters: Kaylin and Emily Winckler. She is further survived by two sisters-in-law: Vivadell Olsen and Louise Tostenson and many nieces and nephews. Myrna is preceded in death by her husband, Harry and two brothers, Levi and Clifford Olsen.
A celebration of life service in loving memory of Myrna will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at the First Lutheran Church, W2314 Prospect Street, Poy Sippi with Pastor Paul Brinkman officiating. Family will receive friends from 12:30 until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Poy Sippi Cemetery. Holly Funeral Home in Poy Sippi is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Bible Society, 1865 Broadway, New York, NY 10023.
