Nancy (Scoop) McCue's Obituary
Nancy J. (Scoop) McCue, age 80, of Poy Sippi, WI, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 16 2009 at Juliette Manor in Berlin. Nancy was born in Kenosha County on July 3, 1928, the daughter of the late William and Jane (Dowell) Glass. She married Leland McCue Jr. on June 27, 1953 in Poy Sippi and they were later divorced. Nancy was dedicated to the following organizations spanning 50 years: Founder/former worker and director of the Esat Waushara Cooperative Library in Poy Sippi. She was very instrumental in the growth of many Waushara Co. libraries. American Red Cross/Disaster Coordinator, American Legion Auxiliary since 1954 & past unit president & historian, Waushara Co. Traffic Safety Commission, Waushara Co. Local Emergency Planning, Wisconsin Assoc. of Wo/Men Highway Safety Leaders, Waushara Co. Crime Stoppers Board, Poy Sippi Community Betterment, Waushara-Green Lake Coop. Library Service board and Winnefox Federated Library System Board, Law Enforce Bike Rodeos & Safety Programs. She attended Concordia College and was a Lutheran School Teacher and taught elementary school at Christ Lutheran Church in West Bloomfield and Lansing & Wordon, Il Lutheran Schools. She was a a Librarian, Cub Scout Den mother and a bus driver, reporter for the Oshkosh Northwestern, Berlin Journal, Milwaukee Journal/Sentinal as a springer and the Waushara Argus. She also owned the Tustin Trading Post grocery store. She is survived by her children: Allen (Tom) McCue, Rosemead, CA; Brian McCue, Poy Sippi; Craig (Barb)McCue, Poy Sippi; Carol Nelsen, Poy Sippi and Cheryl (John) Neumann, Wautoma, 2 grandchildren, Jordan (Tiffany) McCue, Zachariah Reimer, six step grandchildren, J.J. (Narin) Selthofner, Josh (Vanessa) Selthofner, Jessica (Travis) Messa, Ricky (Tina) Nelsen, Lee (Michelle) Nelsen, Lloyd Nelsen. Her sister: Alice (Duane) Klawitter and her brothers: Dwaine Glass and Paul Glass. Also surviving are many step-greatgrandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband Leland McCue Jr. and a sister in law, Jean Ann Glass and a son in law, George Nelsen. Funeral service will be on Friday, June 19 at 11 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Auroraville with Reverend Brian Beardsley officiating. Burial will be in Poy Sippi Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, June18 from 4 - 8 PM at Holly Funeral Home in Poy Sippi. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the staff at Juliette Manor for all their care and kindness.
