Nancy R. Steinke's Obituary
Nancy Rae Steinke (nee Borgen), 84, born in Amherst, WI, died February 4, 2017 at home surrounded by loved ones after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease. She is survived by her husband, Harlan Steinke; two daughters, Julie Topetzes (Alex Mohler) of Milwaukee and Kelly Tedesco of Amherst, WI; a sister, Mary Miller of Appleton, WI; and three grandchildren, Lisbon and Beatrice Mohler and Julian Rubbo.
One of the first employees hired by Godfrey & Kahn in 1957, Nancy spent her entire career working as a legal secretary for the firm until her retirement in 1995. Nancy was respected for her loyalty, dedication and unparalleled work ethic. She enjoyed reading, music, world travel, cross-country skiing, her dogs and cats, and spending time with her grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 18 at Peace Lutheran Church, 293 S. Main St., Amherst, WI 54406. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Lunch and coffee will be served afterwards. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humane Society of Portage County. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the caring hospice team at Ministry Health Care. Her profound love for animals was an important part of who she was. She demonstrated her support of animal advocacy groups and shelters with generous donations throughout her life.
Nancy was a wonderful wife and a loving mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. She will be greatly missed.
