Norman D. Suranne's Obituary
Norman “Norm” D. Suranne, 79, Wild Rose, passed away peacefully at home on August 27, 2010, after courageously battling Multiple Myeloma for nearly seven years. He was surrounded by his wife, Ellie Suranne, and his family. Norm was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 26, 1931, the son of Samuel and Ruth Suranne. He lived in Harvey, Illinois for much of his childhood and enjoyed playing sports and working on cars with his father. Norm played basketball and football at Monmouth College, where he was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity. Norm worked for The Hartford for 27 years as the Midwest loss control manager, where his territory included Wisconsin. It was on one of his trips to Wisconsin, that he discovered the beauty of Waushara County and decided to retire to Wild Rose. Norm and his wife Ellie moved into their beautiful log home in 1992. Norm loved Wisconsin and his community. In 1996, he worked alongside his neighbors and friends to build the Springwater Volunteer Covered Bridge. Norm also loved aviation, and was an active member of the EAA in Oshkosh. Norm was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter and brother, Don. Norm is survived by his wife, Ellie Suranne; his children, Norm Suranne, Jeff Cepek, Karyn Cepek (Jeff Evenson), Gretchen Cepek (Wade Kram); his grandchildren Samantha, Norm and Angelo Suranne; Ellen (Ryan) Gunderson, Megan and Randy Cepek; Jack and Sarah Evenson; two great-grandchildren; and many wonderful friends. We will remember Norm for the unwavering strength, support and love he gave so freely to his friends and family every day. He will be missed. A memorial service will be held at A.J. Holly & Sons Funeral Home in Wild Rose on Saturday, Sept. 11 at 2 P.M. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday at the funeral home from 1 P.M. until 2 P.M.
