Patricia V. Vaux's Obituary
Patricia Vaux, passed away on Sunday, September 19th, 2021. She was born December 16th 1944 in Chicago to the late James and Catherine Vaux. The two of them immigrated here from Europe met and married in Chicago. They moved from Chicago to Waupaca where they planted their roots and started their family farm. Patty grew up in a household where food and love was the story.
Patty went to Mercy School of Nursing in Oshkosh. Most of her nursing career was spent at RMC. There she was a nurse and then a supervisor. Her extraordinary life continued when she married Tom Halverson and had two wonderful daughters, Gretchen Ann and Jennifer Lynn. Her dependability and punctuality were second to none. All of these wonderful qualities have been passed down to her children and grand children, so her moral insight and strength of character will continue her legacy.
The Green Fountain Inn and the Garden Park House days showed Patty, her love for cooking extraordinary foods for other people. Her attention to detail and creativity thrived while also working at the Secret Garden Cafe.
In addition to her family and her myriad of friends, she had many passions. She loved homegrown local produce which was showcased in her pickled green tomatoes. She was a vibrant and talented artist. When Little Fat Gretchen's was created of which she played a significant role, she became the gate keeper of the art displayed on the walls. Her presence will be noticeably absent, especially the rolling of the silverware. With her clever insight and wit she was a charming conversationalist. Music and piano played a big role in Patty's life as well. We are proud to have Patty as our Mother who made us better and stronger human beings. We will never forget her loving ways. Patty truly lit up any room she walked into. With her warm smile and her chic sense of style. She had grace, self confidence and sophistication.
She is survived by daughters, Gretchen Halverson-Faskell (Michael), Jennifer Reimann (Robert). Her grandchildren, Danielle Halverson (Hunter Cramer), and Alexandra Murphy, Amanda Krueger, Jacob and Sammy. Great Grandchildren, Maxxwell, Jackson, Ella and Oden. She is proceeded in death by, James and Catherine Vaux, and her brother James Vaux.
A Celebration for this wonderfully, talented women that we call Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother will be on Thursday, September 23rd from 2 pm until 4 pm at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca. Food will be served at the Green Fountain Inn.
We would also like to thank all of the ThedaCare staff at both Waupaca and Neenah for their kindness and compassion throughout this brief journey.
