Paul A. Tessen's Obituary
Paul A. Tessen, age 81, of Fremont, WI, formerly of Weyauwega and Arizona, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at his daughter’s home where he had been living for the past 16 years.
Paul was born June 13, 1942 in Weyauwega, WI; son of Paul E. and Verla (Guenther) Tessen. On June 23, 1962 he married Delores Voelker in West Bloomfield. Together, they shared 44 years of marriage until her passing on March 9, 2007.
Paul and Delores raised their family of six children in Weyauwega before relocating to Arizona in 1984. While in Arizona, they managed a hotel and later became the proud owners of Paul’s Place Restaurant for several years. In 2006, they returned to Wisconsin as Delores’ health began to decline.
Paul was an avid bowler and enjoyed watching tennis matches on TV. He cherished watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and loved playing cribbage with them. Above all, he treasured the time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Paul will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Paul is survived by his six children Tammy (Dennis) Marquardt of Fremont, Sheila (Todd) Lembcke of Waupaca, Lorry (Bill Rickle) Tessen of Waupaca, Paul (Jenny) Tessen of Tucson, AZ, John Tessen of Tucson, AZ, and Brenda Hickey of Appleton; seventeen grandchildren Kristin Groholski, Kyle Marquardt, Chad Marquardt, Joshua Lembcke, Jordan Lembcke, Justin Lembcke, Jarrett Lembcke, Isabella Lembcke, Ted Tessen, Andy Tessen, Devin Tessen, Reece Tessen, Rylan Tessen, Annalise Tessen, Isaiah Tessen, Kaitlyn Hickey, and Padriac Hickey; eleven great-grandchildren; and also by many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Paul E. and Verla Tessen; his wife Delores Tessen; a grandson Michael Hickey Jr., one brother Wayne Tessen; and two sisters Geraldine Kruske and Shirley Strehlow.
A Celebration of Paul’s Life will be on Saturday, June 29, 2024 from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Poygan Gun Club, W971 County Road HH, Fremont, WI 54940. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
