Perry A. Carter's Obituary
Perry A. Carter age 90, passed away peacefully at Lakeview Manor in Weyauwega on Saturday evening, September 27th. He was surrounded by his children, granddaughters, their husbands and great grandchildren. He was born in Rosholt, Wisconsin on May 20, 1924. As a young man, he quit high school to join the Army during World War II. He was assigned to the signal corps as a radioman based in India and Burma. He was always tremendously proud of his service to his country. After the war, he went to work for the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad as a telegrapher/depot agent, following his father's and great grandfather's tradition. He worked for the railroad for 36 years and retired to happily tend to his real love, his farm. His favorite pastime was sitting on his deck overlooking the fields and apple orchard and of course, napping. He retired from farming and enjoyed years of spending time fishing, boating & listening to polka music at his trailer at Saxon Harbor on Lake Superior. He was also an avid hunter and usually got his buck in his backyard at the farm.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy J. Carter (Huybrecht) of Wild Rose. He is also survived by his six children, daughter Judy Carter Maple of Wild Rose and sons David N. Carter (Hope) of Martin, Michigan, Steven P. Carter (Joan) of Hammond, Wisconsin, Michael J. Carter of Wild Rose, Thomas A. Carter of Madison and Brian T. Carter (Anne) of Prior Lake, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his infant daughter Donna Jean Carter, his parents Perry R. & Alma (Dobbe) Carter, in laws, Granville Lewis and Inez Huybrecht Lewis, brothers Kenneth Carter (Margaret), Robert Carter (Sal), Donald Carter (Lola), Lyle Carter (Jane) and Neal Carter (Mildred). Also preceding him were his brothers and sisters in law, namely Jeanne Ivy (Robert), June Grosjean (George), Shirley Huybrecht and nephew Jon Huybrecht. Surviving in laws include Fritz Huybrecht and Kenneth Huybrecht (Naida) and sister in law, Eileen Carter.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Andrea L. Carter Radandt (Chris), Samantha J. Carter Kuliak (Chad), Jennifer A. Carter (Sean), Adam Carter, Ian Carter, Perry Carter, Eric Carter and Allison Carter. Great grandchildren are Carter & Lily Radandt and Jaxson Carter Peters. He is further survived by many, many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Holly Funeral Home in Wild Rose on Thursday, October 2nd from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. On Friday, October 3rd, there will be a visitation at Holly Funeral Home from 10:00 to 11:00 am, following a memorial service, interment at the Ravine (Lane) Cemetery and celebration of his life and luncheon at the Wild Rose Hotel & Duck Crossing Restaurant.
The family wishes to thank the dedicated and loving staff at Lakeview Manor in Weyauwega for taking such wonderful care of Dad these past two years. He could not have possibly been in a better place and we so appreciate everything that was done for him by the dedicated nurses and staff.
