Craig Augustine
When I think of Uncle Pete, I think of many family gatherings in the front room on 74th St. or at uncle Vernon's and grandma's house on the south side. I also think of sharing the excitement of a new car my dad bought where Pete would be the first person he would show it off to, or a Friday night after a long work week when my dad would say let's head over to "Pete & Evie's place". (There was never an argument when we got a chance to see our cousin's). Uncle Pete was my sponsor when I was confirmed, and when I think of great childhood memories, I think of my time with my cousin's, Uncle Pete & Aunt Evelyn at their house across from Columbus Park or hearing laughing and talking in the family room at our house on 95th St. late into the night, while we youngsters watched some horror movie on a little black & white TV in the back bedroom. Here are a few vintage photographs from earlier days...
