Phyllis Mather's Obituary
Phyllis L. Mather, age 86, of Waupaca, WI, formerly of Madelia, MN passed away Wednesday, September 10th, 2008 at Riverside Medical Center in Waupaca. She was born in Town of Avery, Iowa on September 4, 1922, the daughter of Peter and Martha (Nelson) Sorensen. After Phyllis graduated high schoool in 1942, she married her sweetheart, Clement Mather on June 14, 1942. She loved and cared for him until his death in 2005. Phyllis lovingly read to her children and encouraged them to keep learning. Her interests included cooking, collecting recipes, serving as Deaconess in her local church. She also enjoyed collecting postcards, hearing from her children, and giving smiles and encouragement to those she met. We know you are at peace with your Lord. Phyllis is survived by Children: Gary (Etta) Mather, Eagan, MN; Phillip (Jill) Mather, Butte, MT; Gloria Mather, Waupaca, WI; John (RuthAnna) Mather, Japan; Stephen (Patty) Mather, Belleville, IL. Grandchildren: Mark Mather; Laurie (Kelly) Barr; Megan (Cliff) Sturgeon, Amy (David) Lord, Craig, Michael, Andrew, Joshua, David, Hannah, Sarah, and Timothy Mather; and a Great Granddaughter: Shannon Barr. She was preceded in death by her Parents; Husband, Clement; Brother, Glenn; and a Sister, Joyce. A Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Waupaca, with Reverend John Mather officiating. Interment will be held in Riverside Cemetery in Madelia, MN. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 1 PM until the time of the sevice.
