Randall E. Thompson's Obituary
Randall E. Thompson Jr., age 72, of rural Ogdensburg, WI, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018. Randall, also known as “Sonny” by friends and family, is survived by his wife, Barbara (Leonard) Thompson; son, Randall J. Thompson; daughter, Renae (Brad) Zorn; granddaughter, Alexandria Zorn; sisters, Ruth (Ron) Komarek, Barbara (Peter) Jacobson and Julie Austin; brothers, Ray Thompson and Charles (Nola) Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Randall J. and Joyce E. (Wesley) Thompson; a sister, Paula Cournia; and a brother, Paul Thompson.
He attended schools in South Milwaukee, Oak Creek, Manawa and Iola. He graduated high school in 1965.
He was an active member of 4-H and FFA. After high school, he worked at FWD Corporation in Clintonville until drafted into the Army in 1966. His basic training was at Fort Knox, KY and AIT at Fort Belvoir, VA, where he graduated top if his class in electronics. He did overseas duty in Okinawa until he was honorably discharged in 1968 at the rank of Specialist 5th class.
Randall worked at various factories until offered an apprenticeship as an electrician at AO Smith Corporation in Milwaukee, where he spent his career until retirement.
His favorite hobbies were attending tractor pulls, collecting tractors, and a lifetime of “fast” Ford cars and pickup trucks. He also enjoyed Rupp snowmobiles.
He was an active member of the Central Wisconsin Tractor Club.
Randall will be missed greatly by a lifetime of friends and family.
Funeral Services will be held First Baptist Church in Waupaca, WI on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018 beginning at 11 AM. Visitation will be from 4-6 PM on Friday, Nov. 2, 2018 and will resume on Saturday morning from 9 until the time of service. Pastor Tyler Snell will be officiating.
