Dr. Raymond H. Backe's Obituary
Dr. Raymond H. Backe, age 84, of Amherst Junction, WI, formerly of Greendale, WI, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025.
Ray was more than just Dad. He was a husband, brother, uncle, friend, confidant, teacher and mentor. He could fix just about anything; and if he couldn’t, he’d find something on his workbench to make it work. His desk was organized chaos. His Bible was worn. He loved his family more than anything and loved having all of them ‘up north’. He loved being a veterinarian and all the dogs of our lives. He made everyone feel welcome. He loved to share a hearty laugh over a good bourbon. And according to one of his grandson’s, “He was the most wonderful man I’ve ever met.” He was truly one of one.
Ray is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Margaret “Peggy” (nee Trulley); children: Jeanne, Mark (Carol), Mara and Joel (Kimberly); grandchildren: Colin, Sean, Keenan, Declan and Liam; siblings: Sister Rene, Tom and Loretta. Ray was preceded in death by his brother Larry and parents, Bill and Marie (nee Specht).
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at St. James Catholic Church in Amherst, WI. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of Mass at the Church.
