Raymond A. Jorgensen
Pine River, WI
age 76 – died unexpectedly on Sunday, September 20, 2009 at Berlin Memorial Hospital in Berlin, WI. He was born on June 14, 1933 in the Township of Poy Sippi, Waushara County, WI, the son of Melvin and Erma (Jeffers) Jorgensen. He married Marcella Thompson on October 13, 1956 at the First Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi, WI.
Raymond is survived by his wife; Marcella, children; Debbie (Scott) Smith of Sturtevant, Bonnie Olsen of Berlin, and Kevin (Christina) Jorgensen of Waupun, four grandchildren; Bethany, Jacob, and Emily Olsen, and Abbey Smith, brother; Richard (Delores) Jorgensen of Poy Sippi, and sisters; Eileen (Don) Mattox of Sheboygan, and Donna (Donovan) Rew of Poy Sippi. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Raymond had farmed in the Poy Sippi area for most of his life. He was a longtime member of the Poy Sippi Volunteer Fire Department. He had been a Supervisor for the Township of Poy Sippi for three decades. He had been very active in the First Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi, having served on the church council for numerous terms and with many committees. He is believed to be the last male survivor of the original group that built the current church. Raymond also enjoyed bowling, deer hunting, and listening to polka music.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 25, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the First Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi, WI, with the Reverend David Sielaff, officiating. Interment will be in the Poy Sippi Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the Holly Funeral Home in Poy Sippi on Thursday, September 24, 2009 from 5:30 – 9:00 PM, and at the church on Friday from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in the name of Raymond A. Jorgensen. The Holly Funeral Home of Poy Sippi is assisting the family with arrangements.
