Richard A. Berberg's Obituary
Richard (Dick) Berberg passed into the light of his heavenly home on Saturday, October 22, 2022. He was doing what he loved…. standing on a dock at one of his favorite fishing spots about to go fishing, when he had a cardiac arrest.
Dick was born August 17, 1948 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. He lived all of his life in the Amherst area, graduating from Amherst High School in 1966 and also attended Mid-State Technical College. He served his country proudly as a member of the United States Army. He worked at Joerns Furniture in Stevens Point and retired after 40 years with H.O. Wolding Trucking Company in Amherst.
Dick was a long-time member of Peace Lutheran Church in Amherst. Family and his faith meant everything to Dick and he will be deeply missed by his sister, Donna (Berberg) Chirwa, nephew Khalidwe Chirwa, niece Dawn Chirwa (Andrew Fanara), his uncle, Robert Georgeson, his rescued cat, Bear, as well as cherished cousins and beloved friends. Dick was always the first to lend a helping hand when he saw someone in need. He loved music, cooking, old TV shows, traveling and the Green Bay Packers, but most of all spending time with family and friends.
A Funeral Service will be on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Peace Lutheran Church in Amherst, WI. Pastor Dwight Anderson will officiate. A visitation will be held on Saturday morning from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery following the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to Rawhide Boys Ranch (Home - Rawhide Youth Services) are appreciated. The Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst is assisting the family with arrangements.
