RICHARD L. COURTNEY
KING, WISCONSIN
FORMERLY OF MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN Age 76, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI. He was born September 28, 1932 in Stevens Point, WI; son of Leslie and Ann (Stephniak) Courtney. Richard served during the Korean War in the U.S. Marines from January 18, 1952 – February 15, 1954. He was honorably discharged and received the National Defense Service Medal for his service. Richard was a foreman for Briggs and Stratton for 38 years until his retirement in 1988. He was a lifetime member for 52 years of the Stevens Point Elk’s Lodge # 641 and the Milwaukee Elk’s Lodge # 46. Richard is survived by:

Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Ann Courtney; two brothers, Eugene and Don Courtney; sister-in-law, Judith Courtney; and a brother-in-law, Jim Hucke. A Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, January 8, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Main Chapel at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI. Father Paul Vanden Hogen will preside. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the chapel. Burial will be at the Central WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King following the service on Thursday. A memorial has been established to the Wisconsin Veterans Home in King, WI and to the Milwaukee Elk’s Lodge # 46. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements. A special thank-you to all of our family and friends for their prayers and thoughts with our family throughout this time.
