Richard *Lars* Larsen's Obituary
RICHARD LARS W. LARSEN
WILD ROSE, WISCONSIN Age 65 passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at his home in Wild Rose. Lars was born in Racine, WI on November 16, 1941 to Marion and Wallace E. Larsen at St. Luke’s Hospital in Racine, WI. Lars served in the U.S. Marine Corps. from 1959 – 1966. He served overseas for 27 ½ months; earning numerous Vietnam medals, good conduct medals, and the Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal. He loved his USMC and his country. Lars was in a chopper unit and was shot down in combat in August 1963. He was an Army Recruiter and Assistant Drill Instructor. Lars reached the rank of Sergeant and was very proud to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps. and Army Reserves, serving a total of 10 years to his country.
On April 11, 1964, Lars married Sandra A. Guist in Racine, WI. She survives.
Lars worked at the Racine Journal Times Newspaper for 10 years as a Journeymen Printer. He then worked at Twin Disc Inc. for 19 years as a Final Inspector. Lars also was a truck driver, machinist, worked at four different car lots in Racine, and was a used car manager. He lived and worked in Racine until May 27, 1998 when he and his very beloved wife then moved to Wild Rose, WI.
Lars was a member of the VFW Post # 1391 in Racine for many years and the VFW Post of Wild Rose. He was a member of the AmVets Post # 120 of Wild Rose and a member of the American Legion of Wild Rose with his friends Ed Burch and Clair Jenks of Wild Rose. Lars is survived by:

Ed Burch of Wild Rose, WI Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and his very special canine companion, Maggie Mae. Lars said he always had a great time with his friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Marion Tootie Larsen and three brothers-in-law, Steve Zold, Dennis Hush, also a USMC Vet who passed away in April 2000, and Raymond Knudtson. Lars missed his father and mother very much. This Marine is going to Heaven – cause in Vietnam us Marines have already served our time in Hell… A Memorial Service will be on Saturday, August 11, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Holly Funeral Home in Wild Rose, WI. Reverend Jim Bump will officiate. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. A Second Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 13, 2007 at 10:00 AM at the Primera Iglesia Luterana Church, 3001 Carpenter Avenue, Racine, WI. Reverend Pedro Lopez will officiate. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Burial of cremains with full military honors will be at the Southern WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI following the services at the church on Monday.
