Robert E. Tiegs
King, WI (Formerly of Waukesha & Amherst, WI) age 84 – passed away on Friday, January 23, 2009 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, WI. He was born on June 2, 1924 in Waukesha, WI, the son of Herman O. and Caroline (Hoffman) Tiegs. He married Shirley Palm on December 21, 1946 in Waukesha, WI. She preceded him in death on June 22, 1990. Robert is survived by five daughters; Diana (Donald) Patoka of Amherst, Julie (Daniel) Jones of Watertown, Darlene (Gary) Anderson of Amherst Jct., Christine (Kevin) Dombrowski of Amherst, and Jacquelyn (Richard) Walters of Hugo, MN, a son: James (Robyn) Tiegs of Plover, a daughter-in-law; Diane Tiegs of Waupaca, 16 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his son; Jeffrey Tiegs, and his parents. Robert had served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He had been employed as a police officer for the city of Waukesha, WI for twenty years. After moving to the Amherst area he and his wife owned and operated Bob and Shirl’s Bar in Amherst for two years. He had also been employed with Ore-Ida Foods in Plover for six years. Robert had been a resident of the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King for the last eight years. . A Funeral service will be held at the Peace Lutheran Church on Amherst, WI on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at 11:00 AM, with the Reverend Dwight Anderson, officiating. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Amherst. A visitation will be held at the Peace Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 9:30 – 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in the name of Robert E. Tiegs. The Jungers-Holly Funeral Home of Amherst, WI is assisting the family with arrangements.
