Roger G. Bartel's Obituary
Roger G. Bartel age 77 of Wautoma, passed away on Saturday March 1, 2014 at his residence. Roger was born on December 29, 1936 the son of Gerhardt and Velda (Zabel) Bartel. Roger married Nancy Much on June 27, 1959. Roger served three years in the U.S. Marine Corps. Roger was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 139 for 50 years. Roger enjoyed hunting, farming, snowmobiling, fishing, ice fishing, and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Roger is survived by his wife Nancy Bartel of Wautoma, WI; three sons Barrett (Barbara) Bartel of Waupaca, WI, Jay (Jodi) Bartel of New London, WI, and Todd Bartel of Wautoma, WI; two daughters Roxanne (Arturo) Estrada of Hancock, WI, and Kelly (John) Mapes of Weyauwega, WI; nine grandchildren; two step grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; two sisters Diane (Roger) Wilke of Appleton, WI, and Deloris Meyer of Fremont, WI; and his loyal dog Morris, many other nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents Gerhardt and Velda Bartel; his son Michael; brother Leon; sister Mona; and granddaughter Kristi.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday March 8, 2014 at 12 Noon at the Peace Lutheran Church in Wautoma. Pastor Roger Riedel will officiate with burial to be held in the spring at the Lind Center Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday March 7, 2014 from 4 – 8 P.M. at the Holly Funeral Home in Wild Rose, and again at the church from 11 A.M. until the time of the service at 12 Noon. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Ministry Home Care in Stevens Point or Peace Lutheran Church in Wautoma.
