Roger C. Mathwig's Obituary
Roger C. Mathwig, age 78, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026. He was born on May 26, 1947; son of the late Fred and Betty Mathwig in Oshkosh, WI. He graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1965 and married his best friend Sue Bitter on October 11, 1975.
Roger is survived by his son Troy (Sabrina) Mathwig, granddaughter Myya and daughter Elizabeth Mathwig, grandson Devin. Also survived by brother Fred (Jill) Mathwig, sister Linda Monson, in-laws Ron Bitter, Kathy Schuster, Carol and Fred Schultz, William (Lydia) Bitter and many nieces and nephews.
Roger was a general contractor and was known for building quality homes. He cared deeply about his workmanship and often developed friendships with those he built for.
He was courageous while losing his eye sight, fighting type I diabetes and fighting cancer. He never became bitter or angry through all this. Before losing his eyesight, he loved hunting, fishing, cutting wood, gardening and reading western history. He also loved baking and cooking for get togethers with family. He was a humble, quiet and kind man with a witty sense of humor. His faith in God was unshakeable and now is in the arms of Jesus and reunited with his parents, grandparents, friends and in-laws, Tom Monson, William Schuster, Bev Bitter and Diane and Dwight Noyes.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Weyauwega. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of service at the Church.
