Roy Burney's Obituary
Roy E. Burney, age 58, of Hunt, Texas, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at his summer home in the Town of Saxeville, Waushara Co.WI. Roy was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma on March 5, 1948, the son of the late Zeb Vance and Dorothy Alleah (Robinson) Burney. On July 27, 2005, Roy married Holly Riedel at their cottage in the Town of Saxeville. Roy received his M.A. from the University of N. Texas. He was a member of the Phi Delta Kappa. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam War. Roy was a Special Education, Theatre and English Teacher. He enjoyed the theatre, traveling and the Arts. Roy is survived by his wife: Holly Riedel of Hunt, TX; his sons: Wyndham Burney and Connor Burney of Kerrville, TX; his daughters: Cathy (Eric) Sonsel of Houston, TX and Erin (Roy) Brashier of Katy, TX; a step-son: John Matthews of Hunt, TX; grandsons: Jesse Drewa of Houston, TX; Monty Sonsel of Houston, TX and Jordan Brashier of Katy, TX his sister: Bonnie (Gilbert) Blasingame of Franklin, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son - Blair Eugene Casey-Burney. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 3 at Hilltop Cemetery in the Town of Saxeville, Waushara County, WI with Pastor Bob Hanson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to the Roy E. Burney Memorial Theater Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 435, Ingram, TX 78025. Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca, WI assisted the family with arrangements.
