ROY SHAFFER
WAUPACA, WISCONSIN Roy Shaffer, 88, born in Oshkosh WI, June 20, 1921, went to his Eternal Home on February 28, 2010. He married Charlotte Nowland June 8, 1946, who survives him, along with his daughters, Sandra (Hollis) Bliss and Melody (Donald Jr.) Kieper; a brother, Ruben (Molly); two grandchildren, Kimberley (Brent) Tisdale and Donald Kieper III; and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon Bliss.
Roy was a WWII Veteran, wounded in France, received the Purple Heart, along with other medals. He was a mail carrier in Neenah. On retirement from the post office, he built homes for Shaffer Realty. He enjoyed hunting with his nephew Cal and other friends, also fishing and horseshoe competition. He loved God and attended Fellowship Baptist Church. He was devoted to his wife and family. His love and cheerful sense of humor is missed by family and friends. A Memorial Service will be on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Holly Funeral Home in Waupaca. Pastor Rick Anderson will officiate. A visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Central WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King with full military honors following the service on Tuesday. A memorial has been established in Roy’s name for The Gideon’s or the Fellowship Baptist Church in Waupaca, WI. The Holly Funeral Home of Waupaca is assisting the family with arrangements.
