Ruth Clarke's Obituary
Ruth V. Clarke, age 101, formerly of Wild Rose, passed away on Thursday, February 18th, 2010, at Weyauwega Health Care Center. She was born in Ladysmith, WI, on June 21, 1908, a daughter of the late Fred and Ethel (Clough) Conover. She married Claude Clarke on October 17, 1931 in Rockford, Il. He preceded her in death on December 14, 1959. Ruth attended Wautoma Normal School and UW-Milwaukee. Ruth and her husband Claude were caretakers at Little Silver Lake Resort at one time. They had no children. Ruth had many hobbies including reading, crocheting and playing cards. Ruth worked in libraries in Ladysmith and Milwaukee before moving to Wild Rose. She became library director there in 1954, oversaw the building of the Patterson Memorial Library in 1956 and retired in January, 1980. Ruth was a member of the Wild Rose Woman's Club and the Wild Rose Historical Society. She is survived by nieces, nephews and many friends. Graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Wild Rose on Monday, February 22, 2010 at 4 PM. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Wild Rose. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Patterson Memorial Library in Wild Rose.
