Ruth Schroeder Roche's Obituary
Ruth E. Schroeder Roche, age 101, of Waupaca, WI, passed away Thursday, October 15, 2009 at Crystal House. Ruth was born in Town of Waupaca on May 19, 1908, the daughter of the late Emil F. and Martha (Hoschultz) Schroeder. Ruth graduated from Waupaca High School and Bellin School of Nursing. She is a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hialeah, Florida and a former member of St. John Lutheran Church at Baldwin's Mill. While living in Florida, Ruth worked as a surgical Registered Nurse. She enjoyed quilting, painting and growing orchids. She served in the U.S. Army as a Captain during World War II. Ruth married John C. Roche in Miami, FL and he preceded her in death. Ruth is survived by her sister: Ardyce Schroeder, Weyauwega; her nephew: Kenneth (Nancy) Elandt, Weyauwega and her niece: Marcia (Dennis) Edwards, Waupaca; a very special friend: Nancy Preuss, Weyauwega and her great nieces & nephew. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John. Funeral services will be on Monday, October 19 at 11 AM at St. John Lutheran Church in Baldwin's Mill with Reverend Barry Hoerz, officiating. Interment will be in the Baldwin's Mill Cemetery, Town of Royalton. Visitation will be on Monday morning from 10 AM until the time services at the church. A memorial fund has been established for the St. John's Sabbatical Fund. Holly Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
